Bridges
When a tooth or various teeth have been lost these can be replaced by a dental bridge which is fixed between the remaining adjacent teeth that need to be prepared to receive the bridge. The bridge is made of crowns that are fused together and then cemented on to the next door neighbour teeth.
There is also a different type of bridge called an adhesive bridge that is simply bonded to the adjacent teeth without these needing to be filed down, these have “wings” that are cemented on to the supporting teeth.
Although still a popular technique, bridgework is now being superseded by dental implants for the replacement of missing teeth. |
